Stargate Drabble, "Not Like This"
12:48am 16/05/2011
  Pairing: Daniel/Teal'c
Rating: PG-ish
Warnings: none
Summary: their first kiss, written for Lordhellebore
Disclaimer: I do not own Stargate or anything affiliated with it. Unfortunately.

It wasn't supposed to happen like this. Not in a cave with Jaffa warriors stomping around outside and Jack spitting blood and obscenities just around the corner. Teal'c's nose was bumping against his, a stone was digging into his left knee and he was pretty sure that he should have been looking for his glasses instead of burying his fingers in Teal'c's vest. Should have been trying to figure out why the hieroglyphs were glowing instead of wanting more.
Daniel couldn't help thinking that a first kiss shouldn't be like this. It was supposed to be perfect. And it was.

There are many – perhaps even uncountable – reasons why allowing me to watch some TV show about animals in the zoo of Cologne at somewhere around 3.30am is a bad idea. Especially if I am within easy reach of either pen and paper and/or a laptop. Or something else that can be used to document thoughts. I'm pretty sure that the following text is probably at the very top of that list of reasons. You have been warned. 'nuff said.

I'm really scared by how well things are going this year. I had 25k at the end of November last year and I keep expecting to run into a total block any time now.

[info]lordhellebore I won't have to kill Hannes after all, I think. He's still not talking to me, but at least Peter did something useful and figured out where he has seen the symbol on the coin before. Yay!

still 940 words behind my aim for today... *runs off to write*

Day IV of NaNo isn't even over and I already really, really, really want to kill one of my major characters.
I want to get rid of Hannes. Desperately.

The only problem with that is that he's the only one who's really advancing the plot so far.

Well, not quite as much as I had hoped to write today, but at least something, I guess. Now I just have to force my characters to finally do something to get the damned plot moving.

up to 9 characters now instead of just five and I still feel like killing them all. If at least Torben would decide whether he wants to be with the good guys, the bad guys or maybe even the murderer. *headdesk*

the first dy of nano isn't even over and I'm already hating my novel. definitely not of the good.

... I will not go to bed. Absolutely not. I have to write. There's still homework to do for Wednesday and I need a headstart. More of a headstart than I already have. Besides, I think [info]lordhellebore might get cranky if we don't start cooking something edible soon.

You know...
11:22am 01/11/2008
....when I started thinking about NaNo this year, I had the very strange idea of writing something set in a retirement home for werewolves. And, in some strange, inexplicable way, I actually liked that idea.
And then, at 00.01 am I started writing. There's no werewolf any more. A retirement home was mentioned, but is not the main setting. Instead the novel is set in post-third-world-war Hamburg. And it's really written in German. I had two one-hour naps and a thirty-minute nap and feel like hell. I also feel like killing all five characters who have emerged so far. In an extremely bloody and messy way. Preferably the bloodiest and messiest and slowest way I can think of.

Word Update: 3397 so far. definitely satisfactory.

Sort of stumbled out of bed after waking up again and again and way too early and managed to get everything done in some sort of strange slow-motion. At least that's what it felt like. Today's my seminar day and I'm a bit scared. Mostly of the linguistics seminar, because I think hope that the analyzing poetry one will be fun. Or at least not too difficult. Unfortunately I still have to wake myself up before I arrive at the U. Not enough time left to make any coffee and the stuff they sell in the mensa is just... yuck. *shudders*

Not enough sleep, no coffee and my motivation is sort of plummeting towards zero. Did I mention that while I think that linguistics are incredibly interesting they are also the part I hate the most?

Also: [info]lordhellebore, I think I might need your help later, my werewolf is refusing to behave and definitely way too enamoured with the whole post-apocalyptic thingy. *headdesk*

okay, I think I just officially managed to scare myself. I've written just over 15,000 words in the last nine days. what the heck? I can't remember ever having been on such a writing spree before. and the bunnies just keep coming... *kicks buffy/ criminal minds crossover away* right *cough*

but I finally gave in and bought the writing software I fell in love with during last year's nano. *pets laptop* I love the way the keyboard makes typewriter sounds when I use that programm. *cackles like a maniac* the only thing it's missing is a spellchecker, but since my other writing programms don't have one either it doesn't really make a difference. *is happy*

They also talk of our being guilty of injustice, and their being the victims of an injustifiable war. Brandy, and Tom got increasingly close-mouthed and sour. Although a certain sense of tripartite society survived down to Christian times, the three classes described in the Eddic poem "Rigdthula" bear little resemblance to Dumezil's three. It is often argued, and still oftener thought, that none but bad men would desire to weaken these salutary beliefs; and there can be nothing wrong,it is thought, in restraining bad men, and prohibiting what only such men would wish to practice. At its nearest point the wall was little more than one league from the City, and that was south-eastward. When he saw Jack Hare jump towards the fire, and the Practical Man brandishing the toasting-fork, Sir Isaac grabbed the strings of gravitational force that bound Jack to his destiny and PULLED--- That's a seventy-four gun privateer, besides. To honour a group of British nobles, treacherously slain at a conference by Hengist's guards, Aurelius decides to erect a great monument near Amesbury. That being so, he did not chortle when he went upstairs. Let stand. This ensures that when the garbage collector runs, it has complete access to the memory in the heap and can perform its tasks safely without the threat of being preempted by another thread. And then you may begin to laugh. The data are stored in Column 1 and renamed "Age." Pull your hand back. I don't remember that any secrets were revealed to me, nor do I remember any avid curiosity on my part to learn something I wasn't supposed to--perhaps I was too young to know what to listen for. You don't remember how awful it is being normal. Highlight the desired state tax table and press Enter. Abraham had now reached a ripe old age, and the LORD had blessed him in every way. This doesn't alter either string, any more than 2+3 alters either 2 or 3. And I will say firmly that it is the author who says, "One does feel," who is really an egoist; and the author who says, "I believe," who is not an egoist. She hadn't liked Earth. AH, THE OLD DAYS, said Death. Well then, your bond: and let me see, - but hear you, me thought you said, you neither lend nor borrow upon advantage. The emotion in her voice betrayed a depth of distress he could feel, in spite of the fact that they had met only moments before and that he knew nothing of her beyond the little that was obvious to see.

Back in HH...
10:01pm 03/09/2008
... and still dead tired. But then, getting up at 5.30 sort of does that to a person. Will have another look at That Damned Consonant Chart (TM) and then go to sleep while listening to Simon Callow (whom I absolutely *adored* as Charles Dickens in Dr Who)reading P.G. Wodehouse's Very Good, Jeeves

They did show the part where the reporter asked me a few questions, and I noticed that I really hate the way my voice sounds. Of course my parents just had to tape the whole thing. I was so not meant to be on the telly. Really. But at least the dark circles under my eyes did not show. Much.

Goodnight, dear f-list!

Phew....
01:51pm 03/09/2008
It took the film-crew (and us) 5 hours to shoot the material for the 15-minute feature that will be aired this evening. *headdesk*
5 hours of walking around barefoot on damp, wooden planks. *shivers* At least we got coffee and tea for free. And it was fun and interesting to see how the TV people work. Even if they work rather slowly and do everything at least three times.
Am curious if the few sentences I was forced to say to the reporter will actually be shown this evening or if I'll end up on the cutting room floor. *yawns*
methinks I need a coffee now. or a nap.

*yawns* it's too early to go to bed, I'm sick of practising transciption and stupid photobucket is taking forever to upload the pictures. tired and bored, so not a good combination. *sigh* and of course I can't seem to write a single sentence for the Story I Really Have To Finish (TM) and am instead plagued by the first few sentences of something that may one day become the sequel of the Supernatural/Buffy/PotC Crossover I wrote recently for a ficathon. *headdesk*

gawds, I'm tired. like really tired. the military training area here is currently training at night. which means that mps, grenades and all kinds off stuff is getting blown up about 6kms from here. its fucking loud. the windows are actually shaking if they are practicing with the tanks. *headdesk* they usually stop around two am, but since I'm still in the strange habit of getting up at 5 am, that's not really doing any good. bloody wankers.

am also still writing on my entry for a fic-exchange. which I absolutely have to get finished today. I have to. At least I'm already past the minimum length. Yay, go me.
Still, if I think about crossing three fandoms at once again in the next few years, it'll be too soon.

on a side note: went to the hairdresser. head feels frighteningly light and the hair looks incredibly short (even though it isn't) but I'm sure I'll get over it, all curly and pretty right now. *grins*

right. coffee. now.
